This is a critical week in the world’s tire industry. We estimate that at least 18 tire factories are coming back on stream this week.
- Bridgestone is opening its truck tire factories in North America
- Cooper is opening its factory in Mexico
- Michelin is opening its four plants in Spain
- Michelin is opening its steelcord plant in Romania
- Michelin continued operations at its tire plants in Cuneo and Alessandria Italy
- Bridgestone said it would re-open its steelcord plant in Clarksville on Friday April 17
- Goodyear is re-starting tire production at four plants across Europe
- Apollo-Vredestein is re-starting car tire production in Enschede factory from April 14
- Pakistan’s tire makers demand exemption from lock-down India is expected to extend the national lock-down tomorrow, but may permit some regions to re-open (will update tomorrow)
- Sumitomo has re-opened its plants in Japan, after a weekend shut-down
- Sumitomo said its plant in Tonawanda, New York State will close for two weeks from April 20
- Toyo has also re-opened its Sendai plant after a weekend shut-down
- JK Tyre said it is considering closing its factories in Mexico
