Michelin Spain Portugal has just issued a statement informing that it temporarily suspends its activity in Spain by the State of Alarm decreed by the Government in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Michelin begins its statement by pointing out that “since the beginning of the epidemic, Michelin’s priority has been to accompany its employees and those of its subsidiaries that may be exposed to COVID-19 and be prepared in case the situation deteriorates. To this end, a series of preventive measures have been taken progressively, prohibiting displacement, visits and canceling meetings, training, as well as other types of information and hygiene measures. Last week it was already decided that all the staff from Commerce, Tres Cantos, Illescas and Portugal that could do telework. “

Michelin continues by pointing out that “in the face of the evolution of events and as a preventive measure to preserve the safety and health of its workers and their families, Michelin has decided to stop all activities in Spain throughout Monday March 16: factories from Lasarte (Guipúzcoa), Vitoria (Álava), Aranda de Duero (Burgos) and Valladolid, and the Almería experience center ”.

Michelin points out that “initially the duration of the stop, which will be carried out in the best and fastest possible way, will be at least 8 days. The restart date of manufacturing activities will be determined based on the development of events. The company’s management will be in contact with the workers’ representatives to agree on how to implement these measures, which have also been taken for the Michelin factories in France and Italy. Likewise, the company’s management is informing the authorities. The management of Michelin appreciates the responsibility, understanding and collaboration with which all of its staff are facing this difficult situation ”.
